Recordkeeping > Introduction
Human resource management as we know it today had its earliest beginnings in the recordkeeping function.  Because many of the decisions made in organizations are based upon the data collected, maintained, analyzed and reported by the human resource function, the recordkeeping process is still a key aspect of that function.  To meet the needs of today’s business, however, the focus of recordkeeping is necessarily changing from one of information processing to one of managing human resource data. 

There are two major functions for which we use employee records.
